A Meeting with VILTA

Peter and I just visited and discussed with Ms. Heather Brown. She is VILTA's President. VILTA is Victorian Indonesian Language Teachers Association. It is an organisation which manages Indonesian language teachers. We think VILTA is a suitable organisation partner that will help us to develop the sister school relationships. We came to her school after school time and we talked about a few agenda. The agenda will hopefully boost the sister schools initiative between Victoria and Banten. We discussed the school partner for each prospective school and tried to see possibility of activities which are suitable for both schools. We also shared both schools potential. A primary school in Victoria is ready to make initial link with a primary school in Banten. So we provide address and details information about the school. In that meeting, we also prepared for the Banten Province Education Department to initiate a visit to Victoria which intents to motivate the sisterschool program. It was agreed that we should also notify the Department of Education and Training in Victoria. It was such a beneficial meeting, even though, we believe that each of us were tired of the daily routine and feel lack of time to do follo w up, but we committ to this works and hoping this will happen in the near future. The meeting took almost 2 hours and Peter and I are deeply in debt for Heather hospitality and kindness to host us. May this will become a good start to make a better understanding and tighter cooperation between Australia and Indonesia through education. (HS 2008)
